Dr. Salim Al-Malik has been appointed director general of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

His appointment came following the nomination of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ and the approval of the third extraordinary session of the ISESCO general conference, held at the King Abdullah Economic City, in Rabigh.

As of May 9, Al-Malik replaced Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Osman Al-Tuwaijiri for the remaining period of his office and will serve a new term ending on Dec. 31, 2024.

Saudi Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Asheikh honored Al-Tuwaijiri for his service in the post since 1991 and wished success to Al-Malik.

Al-Malik has a Ph.D. in allergy and clinical immunology, and a Ph.D. in pediatrics.

He has held several positions including adviser and general director of international affairs at the Saudi Ministry of Education, adviser to the Kingdom’s minister for health affairs, adviser to various Saudi bodies, and has been a member of local and international councils and commissions in the fields of health, creativity and innovation.

Al-Malik has had numerous research works published in medical periodical journals and books, including a literary compendium of poems. He is also active in voluntary work.

Speaking during the ISESCO conference, Al-Malik called for the continuation of the organization so it could remain a beacon for Islamic solidarity and a driving force in civilization building.
